Why do I have multiple contacts for the same person?
I only want one contact per person, the others seem to be read only. This started several months ago.
iPhone 11, iOS 14

Thanks for replying back, Birdiebirdie234. We understand that you have two accounts enabled in your Contacts app at this time.
From what we understand, you may be seeing duplicated contacts because the same contact is stored in both accounts. In a situation like this, we would typically recommend that you move your contacts to one account and continue to use that single account going forward.
The following Apple Support article has more information on how to manage your contacts, and how to turn Contacts on or off for a certain account:
Manage and delete contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Enjoy!

Hello, Birdiebirdie234! Thank you for posting to the Apple Support Communities.
We understand that you are noticing an issue on your iPhone where multiple contacts seem to be duplicated. We know that keeping your contacts organized is important and we’re happy to help you research any available solutions for this.
We’d like to provide you with several Apple Support articles to get started with. These articles explain what you can do first if you are noticing that some contacts are duplicated on your iPhone, or in your iCloud storage:
Hide duplicate contacts on iPhone - Apple Support
If you see duplicate contacts after setting up iCloud Contacts - Apple Support
We hope the information in these articles helps you find a solution. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.
Cheers!
Thank you but I have several contacts and I don’t want to manually go into each one and do this. I had already gone into a few of them and just deleted the read only contacts . In my contacts group I seem to have one called all iCloud and the other one is all Gmail - both are selected. Is there a way to automatically link the contacts if there’s more than one?
Also it seems quicker to just delete the read-only‘s unless when there’s a new update it automatically puts them back in?
