SD card reader adapter for MacBook Pro

Is there an adapter that allows me to read and import photos to my MacBook Pro, which does not have a built in SD card reader?

Card Readers can be found just about anywhere— Office supply stores, Best Buy, etc...

Typically these are USB interface, if you have a new Mac with USBC (Thunderbolt), than a simply adapter is quite handy:
