Formula question for NUMBERS using a barcode scanner

I need help in seeing if there is a work around for an Excel formula to put into Numbers on an iPad. =IF(A382<>"",IF(AC382="",NOW(),AC382),"") is my current formula, I have to have "Enable iterative calculation" checked in excel (File-Options-Formula) for my original to work properly too. My supervisor want us to move onto IOS products, hence the need for help.

So I am using a barcode scanner to scan vessels in my plant. My curser is located in column A, I scan the bar code and it populates a "NOW" reference in Column AC. I keep getting Syntax errors and "can't reference it's own cell" I have tried a true or false IF statement to see if it would populate NOW but I was not successful. Can someone please help?

Hi spddmon66,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. Here to help.

Sounds like you are trying to recreate a formula that you previously used in Excel using Numbers for iPad.

We wanted to provide resources on Formulas and Functions within Numbers, hoping this will guide you towards resolving the issue in your use case.

Yes, the formula works in Excel.

But in Numbers "Enable iterative calculation" is not available. So I need to create a formula for my bar code reader. I have IF(ISBLANK)($A16)),"",(NOW)) the problem is when I scan the cell, it populates the date and time but the time keeps up in "real" time. I need it to be a "time stamp" on when something was inspected within the plant. I am not sure if the circular calculation is what makes or breaks things in Numbers and Excel or since I can't seem to turn on "Enable iterative calculation" within Excel in my iPad.

(I have read some about Applescript but I don't think I can do that within the iPad.)

Can you possibly point me in the right direction for creating a formula? I need to create a formula or work around. Every time I scan a barcode in my manufacturing plant, the date and time show up in another cell. As in the first question, I scan a barcode in A1 it shows the date and time in AC1.

I am not asking for Excel guidance, now I need to see if "Numbers" can do this and I will create a whole new spread sheet.

Thank you for any information.
