Which OS is best for a mid-2012 MacBook Pro?

Hello everyone,

Just recently repurposed my old MacBook and got it back to use, it is a Mid-2012 model with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4gb of ram and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB, and it has a 500gb Hard drive. It is currently on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I was wondering if I should update it at all or leave it on it's current operating system?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.10

The mid 2012 is a really work horse. The last of the fully user upgradable components to make it fly like a new machine.

You are quite capable of running macOS Catalina 10.15.7 without issue.
