Per Apple: The Apple Remote (aluminum) ships with Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation). It also works with other models of Apple TV, though functionality might be limited. The remote's aluminum body has dedicated buttons for Menu and Play, and a round navigation button for pressing up, down, left, and right.
