Since the last IOS update, my phone repeatedly turns off and restarts, when not connected to a power source.

I’m not sure how an IOS update could effect my battery, but 2 years ago on an older iPhone I updated my phone and the phone would not even turn on past the Apple screen. I ended up having to do a factory reset, via a computer, and lost important information. Now, my phone is useless when not plugged in. I’ve just performed the network reset to no avail. Any guidance here would be a blessing.

Hello,

I would guess that your battery needs a replacement, but start here:

If your iOS device restarts or displays the Apple logo or a spinning gear unexpectedly

Also see these standard steps for short battery life:

1) Have you tried a restart?  If not, do it now.

2) Go to Settings > Battery > BATTERY USAGE BY APP to see the apps that are consuming your battery.

3) Check “Battery Health” in the link:

iPhone Battery and Performance

4) If all else fails, consider a battery replacement:

iPhone Battery & Power Repair

Good luck.
