AirTags set up shows wrong phone number

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14.5

iPhone is signed into MY Apple ID. All places on my phone show my phone number (my Contact Card, iMessage, FaceTime, etc). However, when I go to add an AirTag, it shows my husband's phone number. We have Family Sharing set up, but there's no reason why my Apple ID would show his phone number in this instance. Both accounts have 2FA set up, and we've added each other's numbers as secondary trusted phone numbers.

For obvious reasons, I would want the AirTag assigned to my phone number. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I had the same problem you were having and I figured it out. You have to fix your iCloud or account security settings via the Apple account website. I had two trusted phone numbers saved in my security settings. I removed the phone number that kept showing up on my AirTag that way.

Click on this link to find out 'How to reset your AirTag' --> https://support.apple.com/HT212251

- "An AirTag can be associated with one Apple ID. If you want to use an AirTag that someone else has used, they need to remove the AirTag from their Apple ID first. If the previous user removed the AirTag from their Apple ID but they were out of Bluetooth range of the AirTag, then you need to reset it before you can use it with your devices."
