Incorrect autocorrect

My autocorrect persistently suggests that I want to say ‘and’s’ when I type ‘and’, it’s so frustrating. How do I get rid of that? It’s not in my text replacement list!

Hi Canadamanda,

It sounds like you have a specific word that is auto-correcting to a mistake. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities. Let's see if this helps.

Since you know the word that is misspelled, type it in and then tap the "x" in the correction box to cancel the adjustment before it is rendered. The iPhone will learn the correct spelling, but you'll have to repeat the process a few times before it stops correcting the phrase. If you accidentally accepted an incorrect word change by mistake, the previously typed word will reappear in a bubble. If you tap it, the shift will be undone, which is another way to help your iPhone learn how to spell those words correctly.

You can also reset the keyboard dictionary. If you're having trouble with a large number of terms besides the one you mentioned, this could be the quickest way to fix them all at once. Only the words you've modified are removed when you reset the keyboard dictionary. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Keyboard Dictionary or by following the steps next to the bullet point "Reset Keyboard Dictionary" in Return iPhone settings to their defaults. Back up your iPhone settings before restoring them to their defaults if you want to save them. If restoring settings to their defaults doesn't solve the issue, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.

If the issue remains after following those steps, let us know what steps you had a chance to try from above.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!
