How do I make sure my Calm app subscription has been actually been cancelled after opting out during 7-day trial?

How do I make sure my Calm app subscription has been actually been cancelled after opting out during 7-day trial?

I can't work out if my Calm 7-day trial is actually canceled as it still appears in my "subscriptions" list in my Apple account. The trial was based on signing up for their 1-year subscription which included a free 7-day trial to try the service. I canceled within the allowed 7 days.

When I check my subscriptions both via my iPhone settings and my App store app (on phone but I have also checked via the App store OSX app with the same results) the Calm app appears in my subscriptions along with a bunch of different types of subscriptions (monthly and yearly choices + premium options etc - see screengrab below). Because it doesn't actually show a live subscription tier, and because it is giving me options to subscribe, I am guessing my cancellation within the trial period worked.

But that is all called into question by the fact that it still appears under the 'Subscriptions' heading alongside my current paid subscriptions (rather than under 'Expired' subscriptions) in my settings and the app store app. It's doubly confusing as it is also listed as a subscription lasting until 2021 on the main page, and when I click on it, I'm taken to an "edit subscription' page where I am offered multiple subscription tiers.

Calm's customer support ask me to go through iTunes to cancel the Calm app (and rightly so as I bought it through the app store) but for the above reasons, I'm unable to be sure if I have actually canceled.

Does anyone have any solutions?

Many thanks!

Hi Applefreq,

It sounds like you want to make sure that you aren't charged for a subscription. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities. Let's see if this helps.

It sounds like you've followed the steps in the section, "How to cancel a subscription on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch" in How to cancel a subscription from Apple, but let's double-check to be sure. If you go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > Tap on the subscription you want to manage (as you show on your screenshot) you will know that it's not canceled if you see an option in red at the bottom of the page that says "Cancel Subscription." On your screenshot there are a number of options, so you may need to scroll to the very bottom of the page to see if the words "Cancel Subscription" is there. If it's not there, then you've already canceled it successfully on that device with that Apple ID. If you have canceled, there may be a message at the bottom of the page explaining how to resubscribe. If the "Cancel Subscription" is there, you can choose to cancel that subscription by pressing on the text that says "Cancel Subscription" and following the prompts.

As a heads up, with some apps, if you cancel within a free trial period, you can lose full access to your subscription immediately. If you don't want to renew your free or discounted trial subscription, cancel it at least 24 hours before it renews.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!
