Thank you. However it was hard to ignore since the messages would just pop up in the middle of whatever she was doing. I figured out it was a Calendar scam. I just had her delete her subscribe calendar account and it appears to have fixed it… For now at least.

This is phishing test mesage spam, and likely involving many variables. It's delivery mechanisms or even content will change, but the only thing that will stay the same is the scareware aspect. I've been poking at this with a stick over the last week, but many of the times I go to analyse this, the content is taken down. You can see a blog post on this that my partner and I have authored here:

You got tricked into installing a rogue calendar; your phone does not have a virus.
If your phone has iOS 13 or earlier: Go to Settings/Passwords & Accounts, look under Subscribed Calendars, tap on the offending calendar and delete it.
If your phone has iOS 14: Go to Settings/Calendar/Accounts, Tap Subscribed Calendars, tap on the offending calendar and delete it.
And in the future beware of "free" offers
I would block the number and report it to law enforcement.
I fixed my mom's by following 1 of the 3 solutions offered in the below link. Maybe try all these if you haven't already?
(video is called- How to deal with iPhone calendar spam- CNET). I checked in with my mom yesterday and she hasn't had any issues since.

Yes. Is this message coming from a specific app?
All such messages, no matter how they are received, are scams and should be ignored See→Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
It comes as a text from phone number xxx - xxx- 7903. A search on the number failed to disclose any useful information for it; however a search of the text data it contained indicated it was a form of Android ransomeware. I don’t know if if would have any effect on an Apple device.....I attempted to screenshot the text as it appeared on my Home Screen by holding both the Power and Home buttons but it was not reactive. Oddly enough, it did not appear on my iPad as other messages do.

This is a phishing text message spam :) Accidentally typoed. oops :)
Calendar scams are pretty common. Just never agree to a free offer. You must actually accept the offer to install a calendar, although the wording of the offer can be obtuse.
I would certainly not trust the advice on a dubious website.
My mom has been getting a bunch of pop-ups on her phone with different messages. They are not coming through as text messages though. The last message she received said some thing about “we will lock your device soon due to spam messages.” Because this is not an actual text she cannot block a phone number. I’ve had her clear all of her apps and also restart her phone and the messages keep coming back. Is there a way to fix this?
How do you repot it to law enforcement?
How do you report it to law enforcement
I’ve been getting the same except they are messages through my calendar. I’ve since deleted my calendar but I still get them
