upgrade to big sur

I have a powerbook mid 2012 i7 running CATALINA 10.15.7. etc... apparently its not new enough for the IOS upgrade. is there any way around that so that I CAN install Big Sur on a mid 2012 powerbook? or am I just asking for problems...
