cant get into my sons apple id and need to change him to a different family sharing

Why can't you get into his ID? Error message(s)?

If under 13 years old.

Family Sharing - Transfer a child to a different family group - Apple Support

If 13 years old or older, remove him from your family.

Family Sharing - Leave.
