Virgin Mobile Canada - Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS+Cellular)

Hi everyone,

I want to purchase a Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS+Cellular) for someone who has an iPhone using Virgin Mobile (Canada). Based on the Apple website, it appears Virgin Mobile is not a listed carrier that supports the Apple Watch 6. Is there a way to get the Apple Watch to work using Virgin Mobile? Or can we register the Apple Watch with another carrier and have it connected to the iPhone and phone number registered to Virgin Mobile?

Your help is appreciated.

The Cellular + GPS Apple Watch shares the iPhone's phone number, and the carriers that support the Apple Watch charge a monthly fee. In the U.S. the fee is $10 per month. Here is a list of carriers that support the Apple Watch:

The carrier has to support the Apple Watch. There is no fudging.


If your friend wants to have 2 cellular contracts (paying double), AND their iPhone has Dual SIM support, they could get a 2nd contract with one of the Canadian carriers that supports the Apple Watch

  • Bell3 Supports Family SetupFreedom Mobile3
  • Rogers3
  • Sasketel
  • Telus Supports Family Setup


The GPS only Apple Watch (or a cellular model without activating the cellular radio) can do Everything the Cellular model can do AS LONG AS your iPhone is nearby, where nearby is generally somewhere in the same moderately sized home. The Cellular model allows you to leave your iPhone at home while you go for a walk, run, bike ride.
