iPhone 12 Camera Sound glitch?

the camera shutter sound on my iPhone 12 has been very faint on full volume. It’s there but it’s not quite as loud as my previous iPhone. The Live Photo’s is not on and the phone is not set to silent. Everything else works fine. The music. Calls are ok.

However if I reduce the volume in the control panel slider to about half way and then snap a picture the camera sound gets significantly louder to a maximum. Any further reduction in system sound reduces the sound. And there is no sound when the volume is at zero.

has anyone else experienced this?

I feel the glitch is in the software somehow but I don’t know how to fix it! Tried resetting the settings that didn’t work. Please help!
