My transfer stuck on 1 minute for 15 hours

While doing the phone to phone transfer set up to my new iphone 12, it has said 1 minute remaining from 3pm yesterday to 8:30 am still today. I saw posts saying to wait overnight but mine is still saying it. Should I keep waiting? I really don't want to reset the new phone to factor settings, because my friend said I wouldn’t need to back up with this method so I foolishly listened.
