Removing duplicates from a playlist.

Hi everyone, I have a playlist that I've noticed has some duplicate items in it. How can I find and remove duplicate items from a playlist. Not from my library, just the playlist.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.2

Hey there friend. Below are the steps I found to fix this issue. I also provided the link where I found it so you can find a little more details if you need. Hopefully this helps. ;)

Find duplicate items in Music on Mac

You can find every instance of a song by the same artist anywhere in your music library. For example, the same song could appear on the artist’s album and on a movie soundtrack.

You can also search for exact duplicates, in which a song, artist, album, and version are all the same (if, for example, you inadvertently imported a song twice).

  1. In the Music app  on your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar on the left.
  2. Select an item, then do one of the following:
    • Find every instance of that item in your library: Choose File > Library > Show Duplicate Items.
    • Find exact duplicates: Hold down the Option key, then choose File > Library > Show Exact Duplicate Items.

My apologies. I understand what you’re saying now. I actually had almost the same exact issue last year. But it was with my iPhone. it displayed multiple duplicates of an Eminem song.

so, I deleted the one that showed up in the search. Which in turn deleted the duplicate. I then Close the app and re-launched it. I’ve been searching through my playlist, and the duplicates were gone.

Thanks for replying, Billywayne28. This is not the problem I'm trying to solve. This is for finding duplicates in my entire music Library. I want to do a more targeted search within a specific playlist.

Say I have Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit" in my library, it's one item. It won't show up if I search for duplicate items. Now say I accidentally dropped it twice into a playlist. Still just one item, but it appears twice in the playlist. And I probably did it with some other songs too. The playlist is large, thousands of songs, so I can't just sort by artist or song name and look with my eyes. What are my options?

Thanks again for replying.
