Want to retrieve deleted notes without iCloud

My friend sent me a note through messages and when I clicked to open it, it asked me to verify myself. When I verified myself by clicking my phone number, it sent me a message to click the link to verify myself. It ended up deleting my notes and replacing it with my old notes from 2020. I have searched up everything and nothing has worked. My iCloud storage is full so it couldn’t back up the notes and I don’t know how to retrieve them. I also don’t have a recently deleted section in my notes. I wrote down really important stuff and I really need it back. Please help, thank you.

Hello star522,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with missing notes after verifying your identity to share a note sent by your friend. First, Restart your iPhone and make sure you're connected to a strong Wi-Fi or cellular network signal. Then, see if these steps help to recover those notes: If you're missing notes on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You also mention that your iCloud storage is full. Many things can happen when that storage fills up, including data no longer syncing across devices. Check out the following guide for those details and more to help: Manage your iCloud storage

Keep us posted on the results.

Take care.

star522,

You're very welcome, and we appreciate those additional details! If we're on the same page, the missing notes are from your Gmail account and not iCloud. Is that right? Either way, without them being included in a backup there is no way to recover them. As mentioned in the Manage your iCloud resource, with full storage data doesn't sync across and the backup doesn't complete.

Best regards.

Thank you for responding soon, I followed your steps and it turns out in the settings, for my back up email in my accounts, the notes backup wasn’t on. Does this mean my notes are gone for good considering my iCloud storage was probably too full to save them and my email backup for notes wasn’t turned on? I also checked the trash in my mail and there wasn’t anything there. Thanks!
