An iPod doesn't have "iTunes". To play music you use the Music app which has a musical note for its icon.

If you use a Windows PC or laptop, you can download iTunes (which is a computer programme - or application) to that, then add music to iTunes on your computer and then copy it to your iPod. You can also do that on older Mac computers. Newer Macs do not use iTunes.

Alternatively, on the iPod itself, use the iTunes Store app to go directly to the iTunes Store, where you can buy music and download it directly from the store to your iPod.
