Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

“update payment details”

hi, i’m concerned why it keeps on saying “ update payment details” it requires a verification when i try to download a FREE app. and i just can’t seem to figure out the problem.

It Reads "Failed":

As you can see, it reads "Failed". So, something is not going through. Hence, the continuum of messages to update it.


Try the Following:


A. Start Here: Verify if you care is an option for you to use. Go Here: Payment Methods that you can Use with your Apple ID - Apple Support


B. Contact your Bank:

If it is not going through, then perhaps your financial institution (i.e. bank) may be seeing this as a fraudulent transaction (though that may not be the case). So, call them, letting know that all is OK.


If Unsuccessful...


C. Contact Apple Support:

As you might suspect, no one here would know the reason for this occurrence, of course. No one here has access to your account information (and that is a good thing, BTW). So, contact Apple Support. They’ll know why this occurred and will run you right through the fix.

Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

If you still cannot add it, then I would contact Apple Support. They'll see this from their side, and will run you through the fix.
