Big Sur on late 2015 iMac

I have a late 2015 iMac (16B, 3.3 GHz i7) and have been looking into updated my OS to Big Sur. According to the specs this iMac is compatible, but the question is more "should I" than "can I". Because I am totally reliant for this computer for my daily work, I am reluctant to risk performance problems. Has anyone made the upgrade to a similar system?

Thanks!

Download and run the free GO64 app. lt will tell you which apps will not work with Big Sur. Any 32 bit app will have to be upgraded to 64 bit at the developer's site or an alternative for it obtained. It can get expensive.

Also make sure you've never installed or run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps on your Mac? If you have uninstall them according to the developer's instructions before upgrading.

Thanks! I was weighing the potential risks vs the potential benefits and was struggling with getting good information ("can I" vs "should I"). I realize that that sometimes a system update will slow a computer down BUT other times actually speed it up. I already upgraded the hard drive with a SSD, but I think that's really all I can upgrade given the current configuration of the system.

Thanks Again!
