PROFILE AND DEVICE MANAGEMENT

This depends on where the profile is coming from. Apple Configurator Profiles require the device to be physically connected. MDMs may need to be on site or connected to VPN to install if they are hosted on premises. If the MDM is hosted in the cloud, you will need the enrollment URL. You can also enroll in an MDM using Apple Configurator. Your MDM should have instructions on this.
