Default Zoom for Preview

Hi - when I open a PDF document in preview on my Mac (MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports), Big Sur) it usually opens at a zoom level of 266% making it unreadable. I suspect that this because I use an external monitor and it is sizing the doc to fit the laptop screen. Is there a way of changing the default zoom to 100%?

Hey there uruz!

We would be more than happy to provide you with information on changing the zoom level of the PDF documents in Preview.

Have you tried changing the "Define 100% scale as" preference in Preview? You can Change PDF preferences in Preview on Mac by following the steps here.

Is Zoom to Fit checked under the View section of Preview? You can uncheck that as well and see if that helps.

Have a great day!
