Terminal or Software USB-C Reset Solution

Brief: I'm looking for a way to do a software version of unplugging and plugging a cable back in to USB-C on my M1 Mac Mini.

Background: I have a Lenovo Li2323swa monitor I'm using as a 2nd monitor that wakes then goes dark after sleep. It's a cheaper monitor and this issue was around on previous windows machine as well. I'm pretty sure it's just the monitor as I've checked the cables. Easiest solution is just unplugging from back of Mac and replugging it in. I'm using a USB-C to HDMI adapter.

I'd like to move my Mac further from my desk so I'm hoping for a terminal, software, or macro solution to this on the software side. Is there any way to turn a USB bus off then back on thus simulating the hardware effect?

Thank you,

Ryan

This is a macOS issue that is not limited to just your new M1 Mac Mini. It is a dual displays hand shake issue that has been around as far back as macOS 10.14 Mojave.

I have been using dual display setup for years and the "Work Around" that I use, is a Hot Corner set to "Put Displays to Sleep". Then if and when a display fails to wake, I use the hot corner to re-sleep and then I re-wake the displays. It works every time and I never have to un-plug/re-plug a display or restart the system.

Sorry I only offer a "Work Around" but I encourage you to send Feed Back to Apple about this issue.
