Does the iPhone pro max allow photos to show up for caller id instead of just the number? I see people that have that. When someone calls, the photo you have for them shows up. I thought some of the earlier iPhones did, but now can't figure it out. I would rather see a smiling face than a number. ha

Thanks for posting your question about having photos appear when receiving phone calls.
The default setting for the iPhone is to show the photo attached to the caller's contact once you receive an incoming call. If you are receiving a call and it is just showing the phone number that would mean that you do not have that person's phone number saved as a contact and therefore cannot add a photo to appear when they call. The way to resolve that it so save that caller's number as a contact and attach a photo of them in the contact photo section. Once that is done the photo will automatically appear on your screen each time they call. You can find steps on how to create a new contact in the article: Add and use contact information on iPhone.
