IPassword App not working on IOS 14.5.1 - need help to restore passwords from iphone backup

I have seen the other questions and read most of the answers as I have also been a victim of this! Unfortunately for me I didn’t take any backups via the iPassword App so can’t follow a lot of the solutions that have been suggested in previous posts. Stupidly I thought the backup I do of the iPhone XS via Finder would be sufficient for my needs ( I thought it restored the IOS - definitely a lesson learnt)!

what I do have is a number of Time machine backups of my Mac Book Pro which I use to backup up my iPhone. I have found the backup file on Time Machine that I could use and I could restore this back onto my laptop but I have just realised that even if I did this the restore won’t restore the iOS back to what it was.

Does anyone know of a way I can get my passwords back using a full iPhone backup held on time machine? Many Thanks.

messages to Apple,

  1. please can you help to persuade the developer to upgrade the version of Password manager so we can at least get our passwords off it?
  2. I do question why there were no warnings about the App not working after the upgrade!!
  3. Normally I backup my iPhone before upgrading but this time I couldn’t connect it to my MacBook Pro until I had upgraded which meant I couldn’t take a pre backup and I took a backup before realising iPassword didn’t work. Why was this the case?
  4. why is there no facility to restore back to an old IOS version? Based on the fact there isn’t then Apple need to make available comprehensive release notes which include a list of all the Apps that won’t work on the new version.

Update

i found the folder and file name that the iPhone backup id held in on my MacBook Pro and then I searched on Time Machine for an older backup. Found one and restored the old backup into the folder on the MacBook Pro. I borrowed an iPhone 8 which had been wiped and plugged it into my MacBook Pro. I restored from the backup I had just retrieved from Time Machine. Luckily this only restored to the previous IOS so I was able to open iPassword. I manually opened each password and recorded it manually. Just need to find a decent Password App now,
