Apple Music App - "Media.localized"

Hello,

Running Catalina > Using the Apple Music App > With the default location for Media Files

(Macintosh HD / Users / ~ / Music ? Music / Media)

If I do "Get Info" (Command-I) on a track - Is it normal for the "File" tab of the window to show a path of:

/Users/~/Music/Music/Media.localized/artist name/album name/track name

With the ".localized" folder name extension??? (If it is a folder name extension???)

The pathname if Finder does not include ".localized"

Just wondering if everyone is seeing the same thing??

Thanks

John

So.... I decided to take a chance with the Apple iOS app and had a chat with an Apple Support Rep.

I was told that it IS NORMAL for the Media folder in the path in the new(er) Music App to have an extension of ".localized" because it is saved on my device storage and that this was a change made in macOS.

Sadly I did not think to ask why this is only seen when viewing the "File" tab in the "Song Info" window and is not seen in Finder????. (Does Finder hide extensions for folders even you have the preferences set to show all extensions???)

I'm about to move my Music media files to a separate volume or partition/container (not sure which yet..) so it will be interesting if the track path show the ".localized" extension when on a different volume or partition.

Searching the internet for several days only turned up folks who "have not seen this" or speculated that the ".localized" extension had to do with language support.

Just curious to find out some details.
