New Mac Mini with Big Sur does not open existing software

I have been running an older Power Mac and it's been a workhorse for over 10 years. Now, I've downsized to a Mac Mini and was convinced by the Apple store to go with the M1 version.

Just migrated all my files over the the Mini and now a LOT of my older software (which I rely upon) will not open! Either it is not Big Sur-compliant or it is an Intel-based software.

Only ONE application told me I need Rosetta to convert it (which I did). All the others are just dead now!

Should I downgrade my OS?

Mac mini, macOS 11.3

You cannot downgrade the OS with the M1 Mac. You must use Big Sur. I would look for app alternatives to the old 32bit apps. Most can be replaced with 64bit versions (perhaps by another company). I went through that and I found good replacements for all my older apps.
