If I do not turn on FileVault Disk Encryption when I buy a new Apple MacBook Pro, what is the downside?

If I do NOT turn on FileVault Disk Encryption with a new MacBook Pro, what is the downside?

If your MacBook Pro is lost or stolen, someone may be able to access all of your data on that MacBook Pro.


I have turned on FileVault on MacBook Air and MacBook Pros that I have owned since 2012 and can see no downside in turning it on.
