Links are not opening in their respective app after ios 14.5.1 update

iPhone 12 pro max. I noticed this issue now and I’m almost sure it’s after the ios 14.5.1 update.

if I click on any link received in WhatsApp, it doesn’t open in it’s respective app like YouTube or Facebook. It just opens in safari by default.

I tried to press and hold on the link and I don’t get any option to open in app.

anyone else facing the same issue?

I read about so many people complaining about the lag and slowing down of the phone after the update. I’m worried about that too now, I didn’t use my phone so intensively after the update yet. Lol

Thanks. I tried the 1st 3 steps already, didn’t work. I can try deleting and re-downloading the apps as a last resort. The issue is not that apps are not opening at all, but I’m assuming you are telling me to follow the same steps for my issue as well.

It’s just not WhatsApp. I tried opening an instagram link from twitter, same thing is happening. Does not make sense.

but that’s frustrating. I’ll literally have to delete and reinstall so many apps. It happened after IOS update. Is there no other way round? I guess no. I’ll try that for one app and I’ll know if it’ll work for others

I didn’t try deleting and reinstalling the app, I would need to do that for so many apps, maybe I’ll try with 1.

Sometimes links open in apps and sometimes not. Today I searched for an address in safari and when I clicked on the link for directions, it opened in safari instead of maps.
