what to do when pink stripes dominate the display?

suddenly, out of nowhere, my display stopped working properly and vertical pink stripes keep on blinking all the time. Besides, the front display looks like a shadow and with high transparency so I can still see the displays in background, as well as windows I have already closed! What is happening? How can I fix it?
