Will this upgrade my macos to the latest version?

Will the upgrade for my iMac to recognize my iPhone 11 upgrade my macos to the latest version? In other words, what is being updated on my iMac?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.14

It will patch iTunes on your Mac to recognise your iPhone
