I started getting this glitch in my TextEdit documents. When I tape ' it adds a space. Don't know why. I try checking system preferences, text for a shortcut and there is nothing there. It doesn't change the ' in the earlier parts of the document, just when I type new words with '. Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds more like the issue. Now it's stopped again. So it may be from it not being cleaned for a long time. I smoke while I type sometimes so it's pretty bad. Very odd. Thanks for all the quick answers. But I don't think I qualify, 2014.
Is there really a space there? It could a font problem. Does the problem happen in any other apps?
Yes it adds like one or two spaces between ain't in the picture dude. No, Word doesn't do it. I don't think I have any other text apps to try it in.
Word has its own text architecture. You can’t compare that. Maybe test in Stickies or Notes.
If it is a hardware problem, you should expect to see it in Word too. This is a common problem with the new “butterfly” keyboard mechanism.
