Is ProType a malicious Chrome browser extension?

A browser extension called ProType that I did not install and does not come from the Chrome Extension store seems to be overriding my default search engine on Chrome. It seems to be forcing Yahoo rather than allowing Google.

It doesn't have the standard Remove button and can't be turned off. It won't allow me to change my default browser back to Chrome.

Am baffled.

Am searching online and in support forums, but no luck so far.

Suggest for peace of Mind - use the Malwarebytes Application directly for the Trusted Developer and Reliable Contributor to these Forums. It is free or paid for added features. If the issue is Malware / Adware - it should remove it.
