Big Sur thinks its running on UPS, but it is not

Since upgrading to big sur my computer thinks its running on the UPS, the only way to stop it is to unplug the USB cord from it - which won't allow the computer to shut down automatically if power goes off.

Any ideas?

Assuming you have your UPS status on your menubar, it shows on-battery? Sometimes after an upgrade, things tend to get a little mixed-up, especially if you have external connections during the upgrade like a UPS. I usually unplug everything during a MacOS upgrade.


Try these options first:


Reset SMC:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295


If that doesn't take care of it, try this:
