OWC OWCSSDA13MP4.0 4 TB SSD on a Mac Pro late 2013 - compatible with BigSur?

Hi, has anybody experience running a OWC OWCSSDA13MP4.0 4 TB SSD on a Mac Pro late 2013 and upgrading it to BigSur?

Due to changes in OS installer, this specific SSD will not be visible as internal disk, as it's RAID configuration is revealed to the OS (which today no more allows an install to a RAID array).

OWC does only officially support installation up to 10.13, which still will require a clean install onto original Apple SSD and later cloning back of the system to OWC SSD and restoring backup from external SSD to internal OWC SSD.

An OWC blog post noted compatibility to Mojave, which I successfully installed.

Now I would like to know if there is any chance to run Big Sur on this internal 4TB SSD? I am reluctant to trial and error, as copying 3.5 TB of data back and forth is time consuming even with an SSD, and literally takes days.

Any experience would be highly appreciated - also any hint if there is a OWC firmware update around that would stop exposing the RAID configuration to macOS.

Thx and best regards!

The big problem with this drive was that it is a NVMe drive. Booting the firmware updater from an NMVe drive before you do the firmware update that enables NVMe drive booting is impossible, (and leads to all that drive-juggling you described so well.) Once you have the firmware update, it was supposed to be working.
