Camera setting

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand your camera appears to be stuck in a black and white setting and you're unable to change it back to color. We'd like to help.

Let's start off basic, and try the relevant steps from within this article: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working. This includes restarting your iPhone.

Then, check to see if perhaps this is related to preserving the camera settings: Change advanced camera settings on iPhone. Check under Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings. If you have 'Creative Controls' turned on, try turning that off, then make sure you revert your photo filter option back to 'Original' when you open your camera again. To do that, when you open your Camera app, make sure you are on 'Photo' at the bottom, then tap the arrow at the top-middle of that screen. This will open options at the bottom, just above the capture button. Swipe over until you get to the last symbol which looks like 3 circles overlapping one another. That is the photo filter. That's where you can change the filter back to 'Original'.

We also suggest making sure you're using the most up to date iOS version: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Be sure to backup your data first.
