Apple refuses my change of adress

I recently moved from Holland to Switzerland.

Apple blocks my new adress as long as there is money on my apple ID.

They force me to spend the EUR 77.27 before accepting / updating my new adress.

Due to consumer rights it is illegal to refuse a customer to update his personal data.

I asked Apple to refund the EUR 77.27 to my bank account as it will take months for my to spend this EUR 77.27 Or if there is another way, to tell me. The answer was no. Even the manager of the lady on the support phone could not help me.

I do not want that Apple keeps my old adress in their system where another person lifes right now.

Does anyone have the same experience and is there another way to get my personal data updated?

I think this week i will contact the Authority of Personal data (AP) in The Netherlands. There is a possibility to register a complaint.

There is an alternative but you won't like it. Ask Apple to keep your EUR 77.27.

Here are two ways to remove all your Apple ID balance:

Spend it:

If your store credit is less than the cost of a single item on the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store, you can add a payment method such as a credit or debit card to your account [ how to add a card --> https://support.apple.com/HT201266 ]. When you buy an item, you will use the remaining store credit and the rest will be charged to your card. This payment method has to be from your old country.

Have Apple keep it

"If you still can't change your country or region, or you have less store credit than the cost of a single item, contact Apple Support." Apple will remove the balance and keep it.

Click here --> https://support.apple.com/choose-country-region/media-services Select an option and keep on working your way down the menu until you get to one saying your "topic isn't listed". This will present you with support by chat or telephone call.

Or call Apple Support --> https://support.apple.com/HT201232

Apple has its own rules. Tey do not say why they have this rule but I could see it easily having to do with international money transfer regulations and Apple not wanting to be involved in anything like that. For you it is only 77 euros but I suspect that if Apple allowed this that money laundering criminals would find a way to use it to get around currency export restrictions in place for some countries. Another is the fact that it would have to be converted into Swiss Francs for you and Apple is not a bank. In your case is it a bank that is set up to do this, and in the other the callphone networks have this all set up between them. You're not actually taking cash from one country to another through them.

Thanks for your kind reply!

Spending in short time or donating is what Aplle wants but not what i want.

i have no problem with staying in the dutch app-store for 6 to 10 months untill my amount has dropped to almost sero.

BUT during this time my adress should be changed to my real place of living.

i also keep a dutch bank account. The bank does not force me to spend my money before changing my address nor do others such as my prepaid cellphone operator etc.
