Video Settings for iPhone 12 Pro Max

I find myself recording much more these days with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. When I import those videos into FCP, I sometimes get a message about converting SDR to HDR (or vise versa, I can't remember which...). When I use the HDR layer, the quality is still not great. So I am wondering if there is an optimal setting on the iphone I should be using to avoid converting and layers?

Not Smart HDR. That’s for photos. At the top select Record Video and inside there is a switch for HDR Video. Turn that off.
