M1 MacBook Air - Crackling Audio but only from OBS?

Hi everyone,

I have a very strange issue that I am experiencing with my M1 MacBook Air. It's brand new, so I'm a little confused as to what is happening.

When recording in OBS, the file outputted has a weird crackling sound when I play it back on my M1Air. Originally, I thought that it recorded the file with the crackle baked into the video, but when I uploaded that video to an OBS group on Facebook, the crackle wasn't there... and the crackle seems to only appear on my MacBook Air when playing back in both the Preview and in QuickTime. I even airdropped it to my phone and the video plays back fine without any crackle. This behooves me greatly, and it will truly bother me until the end of time. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing such a strange issue?

Hello dankdiggity,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you’re having an issue with your Macbook speaker. We would be happy to help!

Thank you for verifying that it was not the video at fault by AirDropping it and playing it on your iPhone. Have you tried using headphones on your Mac and playing the video back? If you haven’t let’s give that a try.
