Iphone7 has no cellular data. I erased the content to use as a phone for my kid. The phone is now saying it cannot be activated because an update is required. When I try to update by connecting it to my computer (per instructions on here) it says Activation Failed The iPhone cannot be synced. The operation timed out. Is there anything I can do?

A working SIM card is required for iPhone activation.
If you have a SIM card in the iPhone and it’s not working, likely a repair is required. However, this may possibly apply.
