Most of the free battery repair programs I know of only cover the laptop for up to three years from date of purchase. The only exceptions are for the 2015 MBPro Battery Recall (no limit as it is a safety issue) and the 13" MBPro 2016 non-Touchbar (4 or 5 years maybe? I'm not really sure since one of our organization's laptops just qualified which was over 3 years old). Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider are the only ones who can verify if the laptop is eligible for any free repair programs and they always have the last word regardless of what any official Apple articles say about coverage.
Stop using the computer. It needs to be inspected by an authorized service center. Start by contacting Apple support. The link is located at the top right of this page.
thanks for you reply, is it eligible for the replacement program ?
We are users like you. We can not make that determination. Contact Apple and ask them.
