Why not?

Your question is unclear.

Are you saying, out of no where, the Terminal opens and you now have this strange window on your display?

Are you saying, you want to know why your Terminal window is 80 columns wide, but 24 lines tall?

Are you saying, you want to know why bash is your Unix shell?

Are you saying, when you launch Terminal, you have a message on the screen or in the title bar saying: "terminal-bash 80x24 screen"?

Can you clarify?

Hi T,

I am sorry to bring more questions to an answered topic.

You would excuse me getting to know that I only exposed my missing knowledge right here because various users appeared to be interested in the shell's lines and columns settings, as made very clear with the quoted TERMINAL BASH 80X24 term in title.

I am willing to have a better understanding in the future. Thank you again for clarifying, K.
