Current status of Apple data in Hong Kong

Given recent news about privacy in mainland China as it relates to Apple, what is the current situation for U.S. citizens living in Hong Kong who brought their own Apple products from the U.S. with a U.S.-based iCloud account? Where is the iCloud data stored?

If a U.S. citizen buys Apple products in Hong Kong, does anything change? Are such products linked to the existing iCloud account, or is a new Chinese account required?

Two Things:

A. Storage Locations:

We are not Apple. This is a user-to-user forum. No one here has any call in how things change, nor would they know where the iCloud data is stored.

B. Location & Item Restrictions:

As for using it, you are permitted a certain amount of devices, and purchases are only allowed to be used in the country/region in which they were purchased. When Items are removed form the iTunes Store, they never become accessible again. That's just the way it is :( It all has to do with licensing between Apple and the Music Studio. To use the account in another country, you'd have to contact Apple Support, and have the Apple Rep zero out your balance.

Can you post a link to that information. I have never heard that someone is not allowed to use their device wherever they want to - I believe restricting your use would be illegal in most countries. The manufacturer can certainly limit their warranty terms, but they cannot tell you where you can use it. And, there is NO restriction as to how many iPhones or other devices you are "permitted".

As for your questions, there is no way any user can answer your questions as they are way beyond the scope of these technical forums unless you happen to encounter a lawyer specializing in international law.

You will need to check the laws of both countries and, preferably, engage an attorney who would be familiar with the prevailing rules.
