Playing Netflix and/or Hulu ever again??

Hi folks,

Is there any workaround at all for us unfortunate individuals who still own and operate iPads with iOS 12.5?? At the beginning of this year, the brilliant app developers at Netflix decided to make the app only accessible to those with the ability to run iOS 13 or later.

Now it seems that this month the "super hip" Apple app developers at Hulu have decided in their infinite wisdom that Hulu should really only properly function on devices running iOS 13 as well... :'-(

Is there ANY way around this if I can't afford to purchase the latest iPad?? (I mean I just purchased this one in June of 2021, and was hoping it would stay relevant for at least a few years! Geez!)

Please help! Thanks in advance,

~Johnny

Sometimes if you can download a newer version of the app on a device that does support it, you can download an older version on an older device if the old version is still on the developer's store area. However, that doesn't guarantee the old version will actually connect to their stream if they have programmed it to only work with new versions.

Complain to Netflix and Hulu about this since they are the ones controlling their services and apps.

Have you checked your devices are up to date? On your device, tap:

Settings > General > Software Update.

1. If it says your device is up to date there is nothing more you can do. If apps you are trying to use say you need a higher iOS version, you will need to buy a newer device if you want to run those apps or features.

2. If it says an update is available you will only be given one update selection which will be the highest available iOS version supported by your device. Click on a link below for full instructions about how to update with wi-fi or 5G, or using a computer if you have storage or connectivity issues. If the update listed is not equal to or higher than the iOS version you need to use a feature, you again will need to buy newer equipment if you want to use that feature.

You say you bought your iPad last June (well, you said 2021 which means you have not bought it yet ;-) ). Apple doesn't sell equipment that won't support iPadOS updates for at least a few years.
