Songs showing up in Podcast Playlists

When I select "Podcasts" in iTunes, I get 4 automatically generated Podcast Playlists: My Top Rated, Recently Added, Recently Played, and Top 25 Most Played. In the "My Top Rated" and in "Top 25 Most Played" lists, there are songs that are a part of my music library but are in no way related to any podcast I subscribe to. I mostly listen to podcasts on my iPhone under the Podcast app so this isn't something I've noticed before. How can I remove the songs from the Podcast Playlists without deleting them from my Library?

I have seen similar questions asked, where podcasts appeared in Music Playlists and someone recommended checking under "Song Info/Get Info">"Options">"Media Kind". I did that, and the songs are correctly labelled as Music for Media Kind. I can't seem to remove them and the songs are simply cluttering up my podcast list. Any help is appreciated.

We would be happy to look into what you're experiencing with your Podcasts. Can you tell us if there are any podcasts also showing in those four playlists, or is it only songs. Also, do you listen to a lot of different podcasts? It's possible that the playlists may be pulling from your songs if you don't listen to listen to various podcast shows.

Another thing we can have you look at are the rules set for these smart playlists. It is possible that you have it selected to include other media types besides podcasts. If you highlight the playlist name under where it says "Podcast Playlists" and select the "File" option from the top of your screen, you should see a drop down that says "Edit Rules. Once that window opens up, we'll want to verify that Music is not a set rule to appear in your playlists. You can read more on smart playlists and creating rules in the article below.

Create, delete, and use Smart Playlists in iTunes on PC

We hope this helps.
