Not receiving message alerts on my iPhone and Apple Watch

My phone and watch don’t alert me to messages and my watch doesn’t alert me to calls? They were both working ok

Have you double checked to make sure "Mirror my iPhone" feature is checked in Watch settings for "messages" and "phone" calls?
