Google chat notifications not working

For the last few months I've been unable to get notifications from google chat or google hangouts. There will be a badge on the icon showing unread conversations, but nothing in notification center, lock screen, or banners. I've checked in the Notifications settings and all of those are enabled, still no luck. I have the latest version of Chat and just updated to iOS 14.5.1, no luck.
