I need to authorize my MAC for Books but it says I already have 5 devices.

As suggested by @mulberry58 and / or https://appleid.apple.com/ and log in. In there you can see all devices associated with your Apple ID and logged in. If some devices are not Owned by you - remove them.

Have a look at the link at the top of this page. Eventually you can remove a device from the list
