iphone 12 Pro Max

My husband has locked himself out of his iphone12 pro max. We’ve tried to connect to itunes and restore that way but it doesn’t seem to be working. Can you help?

Did he follow these instructions using a computer?

Then you are not following the instructions correctly. If done right, there is no update or anything. It resets the device and iodinates the restore. It may download a new version of iOS to install, but would be saying anything about updating.

he did. and it’s saying something about not being able to update but we can’t update the phone because it’s disabled
