Why did some of my text messages disappear after an airplane flight

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like you have messages that have disappeared after an airplane flight.

It's difficult to speculate why these messages disappeared. Are you using Messages in iCloud? Please see: Use Messages in iCloud. If you are, then when messages are deleted, they are deleted everywhere and on all devices.

Were the same messages deleted on both devices?

If you aren't using Messages in iCloud, then you may be able to restore them from your last backup: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup. Keep in mind, this would delete anything saved to your iPhone since that last backup.
